Fjords are deep, glacially carved sea inlets along a coast, and Norway is famous for them along its western coastline. The capital, Oslo, sits at the head of the Oslofjord, linking the country’s well-known fjord landscape with its capital city. Sweden’s capital is Stockholm, which sits on islands and waterways rather than iconic fjords; Denmark’s capital is Copenhagen on Zealand and the Jutland peninsula; Iceland is Nordic but not Scandinavian and has Reykjavík as its capital. This combination of famous fjords and Oslo as the capital points to Norway.
